국가무형유산 남해안별신굿보존회는 경상남도 통영과 거제를 중심으로 전승되어 온 남해안별신굿의 보존과 전승을 위해 활동하고 있다. 마을의 안녕과 풍어, 항해의 안전을 기원하는 공동체 의례인 남해안별신굿을 기반으로 전통 연행과 공연, 교육, 창작 활동을 지속적으로 이어가고 있으며, 국내외 다양한 무대와 축제를 통해 해안 지역 공동체 신앙의 문화적 가치와 예술성을 알리고 있다. 특히 음악·춤·소리·의례가 결합된 종합예술적 구조와 즉흥적인 연행 방식, 강한 현장성을 바탕으로 전통 굿의 예술적 확장 가능성을 모색하고 있다.

Namhaean Byeolsingut Preservation Association for National Intangible Cultural Heritage is dedicated to preserving and transmitting Namhaean Byeolsingut, a communal ritual tradition passed down in the coastal regions centered around Tongyeong and Geoje in Gyeongsangnam-do, Korea. Based on this ritual tradition, which prays for the well-being of village communities, abundant catches, and safe navigation at sea, the association continues a wide range of activities including traditional ritual performances, stage productions, educational programs, and creative works. Through various domestic and international performances and festivals, the association actively promotes the cultural value and artistic significance of coastal communal rituals. In particular, the association explores the artistic potential of traditional gut performances through the integration of music, dance, vocal performance, and ritual elements, as well as through improvisational performance practices and a strong sense of live immediacy.

공연 소개 ｜ Performance Introduction

남해안별신굿 '올림춤&수부시나위'

남해안별신굿 ‘올림춤 & 수부시나위’는 음악·춤·의례가 결합된 남해안별신굿의 핵심 레퍼토리를 15분 내외의 쇼케이스 형식으로 구성한 공연이다. 공연은 무녀의 올림춤으로 시작되어 공간을 정화하고 관객과의 관계를 형성하며, 이후 피리·대금·해금·가야금·장구·징이 함께하는 수부시나위로 확장된다. 장단과 즉흥 연주의 변화 속에서 점층적인 몰입과 현장감을 이끌어내며, 무녀의 춤과 악사들의 호흡이 만들어내는 역동적인 연행 구조가 특징이다. 전통 의례의 음악성과 현장성을 무대 형식으로 압축하여 다양한 문화권의 관객들도 직관적으로 감상할 수 있도록 구성하였다.

Namhaean Byeolsingut: ‘Ollim Chum & Subusinawi’

Namhaean Byeolsingut: ‘Ollim Chum & Subusinawi’ is a 15-minute showcase that presents the core repertoire of Namhaean Byeolsingut, where music, dance, and ritual elements are organically combined. The performance begins with Ollim Chum, performed by ritual dancer to symbolically purify the space and establish a connection with the audience, and gradually expands into Subusinawi, an ensemble performance featuring Piri, Daegeum, Haegeum, Gayageum, Janggu, and Jing. Through changes in rhythm and improvisational performance, the piece builds an increasing sense of immersion and live energy, while the dynamic interaction between dancers and musicians creates a distinctive performance structure. By condensing the musicality and immediacy of traditional ritual practice into a stage format, the showcase is designed to be intuitively engaging for audiences from diverse cultural backgrounds.
