BLUECHANT는 동해안별신굿 무녀 홍효진, 양중이자 지화 작가인 정연락, 전자음악가 이진풍·정원기로 구성된 퍼포밍아트 콜렉티브다. 이들은 한국 무속 예술의 소리와 연행을 재구하며 자신들만의 예술 작품을 창작한다. 한국 동해안 무속 전통을 뿌리로 삼되, 장르의 경계를 가로지르는 독자적 음악 언어인 ‘동해안 소울’을 구축하고 있다.
BLUECHANT는 2026 국립무형유산원(NIHC) 창작랩 레지던시 아티스트로 선정되어 〈BIRTH: My Innermost Rite〉를 발표했으며, 2026 국제샤머니즘학회(ISARS, Seoul)에서도 이 작품을 선보였다. 이를 통해 국내외 월드뮤직·무형유산 분야 관객과 관계자들의 관심을 모으고 있다.
BLUECHANT is a performing arts collective composed of Hong Hyojin, a shaman of Donghaean Byeolsingut; Jeong Yeonrak, a Yangjoong ritual specialist and paper-flower artist; and electronic musicians Lee Jinpoong and Jeong Wongi. Reworking the sounds and performance practices of Korean shamanic arts, they create original works of their own. Rooted in Korea’s eastern coastal shamanic tradition, BLUECHANT is developing a distinctive musical language that crosses the boundaries of ritual, performance, and electronic music: Donghaean Soul.
BLUECHANT was selected as an artist for the 2026 National Intangible Heritage Center (NIHC) Creative Lab Residency, where they presented BIRTH: My Innermost Rite. The work was also presented at the 2026 International Society for Academic Research on Shamanism (ISARS, Seoul), drawing attention from audiences, world music programmers, and Intangible Cultural Heritage specialists in Korea and abroad.

BIRTH : 지극한 나의 의례
〈BIRTH: 지극한 나의 의례〉는 지극한 사랑의 이야기다. 아이를 간절히 기다리는 한 여자의 꿈이 무대 위에서 펼쳐진다. 동해안별신굿 무녀 홍효진의 노래와 연행은 그 꿈의 장면들을 하나씩 열어 보인다. 물고기, 말, 개, 호랑이 — 꿈을 찾아온 존재들은 무엇을 이야기하는 것일까. 이제 동해안별신굿의 서사와 몸짓은 샘플링된 목소리와 전자음향의 질감 속에서 ‘동해안 소울’로 확장된다. 동해안 소울은 한국 동해안 무속 전통의 소리와 몸짓을 뿌리로 삼아 전자음악과 결합한 BLUECHANT만의 음악 언어다. 관객은 무녀가 펼쳐 보이는 꿈의 장면 속으로 이끌린다.
BIRTH: My Innermost Rite
<BIRTH: My Innermost Rite> is an intimate story of profound love: the dream of a woman who longs for a child. On stage, that dream slowly unfolds. Hong Hyojin, a shaman of Donghaean Byeolsingut, opens each scene through song and ritual movement. Fish, horses, dogs, and tigers — what are these beings, arriving from within the dream, trying to tell us?
The narratives and gestures of Donghaean Byeolsingut expand through sampled voices and layered electronic textures into what BLUECHANT calls Donghaean Soul: a musical language rooted in the sounds and movements of Korea’s eastern coastal shamanic tradition, reimagined through electronic music. The audience is drawn into the dream as the shaman reveals it, scene by scene.
