(사)부산민속예술보존협회는 1946년 3·1운동 기념 동래야류 발표 공연을 시작으로, 1965년 동래민속연구소 창설과 1966년 부산민속예술보존회 개칭을 거쳐 1969년 3월 24일 사단법인으로 설립되었습니다. 본회는 동래 지역 무형유산의 발굴과 계승 및 발전을 목적으로 전승 활동과 다양한 문화예술 사업을 활발히 전개해 오고 있습니다. 1965년 제6회 전국민속예술경연대회에서 동래야류가 대통령상을 수상하였으며, 1967년 동래야류가 국가무형유산으로 지정되었습니다. 이를 시작으로 동래학춤(1972년), 동래지신밟기(1977년), 동래고무(1993년), 동래한량춤(2005년)을 차례로 발굴하여 부산광역시 무형유산으로 지정받는 등 전승 활동에 매진하고 있습니다. 매년 동래민속예술축제와 동래들놀음축제를 개최하여 국가 및 부산광역시 무형유산을 정기적으로 선보임으로써 우리 문화의 가치를 널리 알리는 데 앞장서고 있습니다.
The Busan Folk Arts Preservation Association began with a Dongnae Yaryu presentation performance to commemorate the March 1st Movement in 1946. Following the establishment of the Dongnae Folk Research Institute in 1965 and the renaming to the Busan Folk Arts Preservation Association in 1966, it was officially established as an incorporated association on March 24, 1969. The association has actively carried out transmission activities and various cultural arts projects for the purpose of discovering, transmitting, and developing the intangible heritage of the Dongnae region. In 1965, Dongnae Yaryu won the Presidential Award at the 6th National Folk Arts Contest, and in 1967, Dongnae Yaryu was designated as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Starting with this, the association has been dedicating itself to transmission activities, consecutively discovering and receiving designations as Busan Intangible Cultural Heritages for Dongnae Hakchum (1972), Dongnae Jisinbalgi (1977), Dongnae Gomu (1993), and Dongnae Hallyangchum (2005). Each year, it hosts the Dongnae Folk Arts Festival and the Dongnae Deulnoreum Festival, taking the lead in widely promoting the value of our culture by regularly presenting national and Busan intangible cultural heritages.
