(사)국가무형유산 동해안별신굿보존회는 1985년 국가중요무형문화재 지정 이후 40년간 별신굿과 오귀굿 등 동해안굿의 전통 의례를 계승해왔다. 동해안별신굿은 김씨 일가를 중심으로 5대째 이어지는 세습무계 전통으로, 탁월한 즉흥성과 예술성, 공동체가 함께 어우러지는 놀이적 성격이 특징이다. 보존회는 전통 의례를 현대 사회 속에서 재해석하며, 지역 공동체의 화합과 생명 순환의 정신을 되살리는 공연, 교육, 연구 활동을 활발히 펼치고 있다.
The Donghaean Byeolsingut Preservation Association for National Intangible Cultural Heritage has dedicated the past four decades to transmitting the traditional rituals of Donghaean gut, including Byeolsingut and Ogu gut, since its designation in 1985. Centered around the Kim family lineage, this hereditary shamanic tradition has been passed down across five generations. It is distinguished by its exceptional improvisational artistry, strong communal participation, and festive character. Today, the association actively engages in performances, education, and research to revitalize the spirit of community harmony and the cycle of life, while reinterpreting these traditional rituals for contemporary audiences.

동해 바이브
<동해 VIbE>는 동해 바다의 생동하는 기운을 무대 위에 펼쳐내는 작품이다. 천근소리와 무속사물, 삼오동, 바라, 탑등 무무 등 동해안별신굿의 핵심 장면을 엮어 관객의 안가태평과 수명장수를 기원하는 굿의 본래적 의미를 현대적 감각으로 역동적으로 풀어낸다. 이를 통해 무형유산의 예술적, 의례적 가치를 새롬게 조명하는 동시에 세습무 전통을 기반으로 다음 세대를 잇는 새로운 무집단의 비전과 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.
Donghae VIbE
Donghae VIbE is a performance that brings the dynamic spirit of Korea’s East Coast shamanic tradition to the stage. Inspired by key elements of the Donghaean (East Coast) Byeolsingut such as Cheongeun Sori (Invocation Chant), shamanic percussion and ritual dances including Samodong, Bara, and Tapdeung, the performance reimagines the gut ritual’s original purpose of praying for peace, well-being, longevity and prosperity through a contemporary artistic perspective. This work seeks to shed new light on the artistic and ritual value of this Intangible Cultural Heritage while presenting the vision and potential of a new generation of performers who inherit and expand the hereditary shamanic tradition for the future.
